About the Ravenwood Arms

The Ravenwood Arms is a heavy roleplaying guild on Wyrmrest Accord. As such, expect all members to have an In Character (IC) reason to be a part of our guild. This also applies to alts of our members. We at the Ravenwood arms do not believe in the concept of Out of Character (OOC) characters, even if you, as a player, are one of ours, or a good friend.

The Ravenwood Arms is a two-sided guild. We are, by all means an inn, located in Ravenhill (yes, that old, run down place is being renovated!). Those looking for a place to stay, a place to have a drink, or a place to hear a tale are always welcome at the Ravenwood Arms. Those who wish to stay longer will surely find employment with us. There’s always a lot to do around the inn! At the same time, we’re also a closely-knit band of people who wish to help the people of the world. We’re not military (we don’t follow orders from High Command), we’re not mercenaries (no, we don’t fight for profit), and we’re not a militia. Our activities are in no way sanctioned. Our methods dance along the line of legality, waltzing to and fro over it. We do what we consider is right. We defend the innocent.  Perhaps, if you are tired of hearing nobles speak outside the Cathedral, weary of Commanders barking orders, and unable to look upon the world and keep yourself from acting, you might find Ravenwood an interesting place to settle down.

Guild Rules

  • You must have a purpose for being in the Ravenwood if you are to live here (an IC reason).
  • If you create an alt, then that alt must have an IC invitation before that character will be allowed into the guild.
  • Officer’s chat is OCC.
  • Guild chat is IC (only) via a comm device
  • /say and /yell is always IC. Limited bracketed (( )) OOC is allowed.
  • Refrain from using abbreviations, such as “u” for “you” or “2” for “to” or “too”. In-game abbreviations, such as abbreviating Stormwind as SW are acceptable in OOC chat
  • Members must log on at least once a month or risk being evicted. If you plan to be away for more than this period of time, please let us know.
  • Trainees must read our rules and sign them before they are allowed to join the staff.
  • Follow the rules set forth by the gods (Blizzard).
  • There are etiquette rules that must be followed concerning communication and interaction in Ravenwood:
    • You must respect your fellow guests (members) both OOC and IC.
    • Your actions reflect upon the guild. Act accordingly.
    • Disputes are handled privately, not in any guild chat (exception would be that of an ‘in character’ RP carried out over comms for the whole guild to hear).
      • If a mediator is required then an officer must be present during the process. If an officer is part of the dispute, then the GM or Asst. GM must be present.
  • Real Life is first priority. Some guild events, particularly meetings are considered mandatory with the exception of an excused absence.
  • Participation in events goes toward rising in the ranks of the guild.
  • Planning events is welcome and encouraged as they also help promotions within the guild. Scheduling will have to be coordinated with an Officer of the guild.
  • There are several rules concerning out bank:
    • Donations can be made by any member and can be in the form of items they believe may be used by someone else or may be in the form of currency. These are to be deposited directly in the guild bank.
    • Donations may be returned to the sender if the bank has a surplus of that item.
    • Donated items which gather dust for long periods may be sold in order to raise funds for the unit.
    • Our supply of gold is used to sponsor activities, prizes, general administration needs and loans.
    • The use of funds is determined by the High Ravens.
    • Any member may request funds to sponsor an event or operation.
    •  All members of The Crusaders of Dawn may request items held within the vault.
    • Depending on rank, a limited number of items may be withdrawn from the bank by a Member. If you are in need of more items at a given time, feel free to ask an Officer.
    • Initiates must request items from Officers.
    • Requested items are to be used, not sold or disenchanted.
  • Members who consistently break our rules (both IC and OOC), or who cause large problems will be placed in a punishment rank (Stable hand) for a determined amount of time, or may be removed altogether. Stable hands are not allowed to participate in guild events or use the /g and /o channels.

Ranks

Since we are a two-sided guild, it is important to point out how our ranking system works. Members rank, reflects both their status as an employ of the inn and their position in our hidden side. As such, the official rank reflects our public face, the inn. Ranks are equivalent, thus, a Trainee of the inn, is the same as an Initiate of the Order.
